Judge Stephen L. Huffaker (Retired)

With more than 27 years of service as an Eighth Judicial District Court trial judge and senior judge, Judge Stephen L. Huffaker plays an important role in the litigation services for the firm. Judge Huffaker was appointed to the bench in 1980 by Governor Robert List and presided over nearly 400 jury trials and more than 1,200 bench trials as a District Court Judge, some of which were landmark eminent domain cases in Nevada history.

As a seasoned trial attorney, Judget Huffaker is intimately familiar with every facet of practice in the district courts, and has both personal and working relationships with all of the judges and court personnel in the various departments of the Court. Judge Huffaker graduated from Loyola University in New Orleans after serving as swingman on the school’s National Moot Court team, as well as managing editor of the Loyola Law Review. He was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada and the Federal District Court, Nevada District, in 1974, after which he served as the assistant public defender, followed by his appointment as District Court judge.
